Betty Maclean Travel cares! Whether it's in support of our community, heart disease research, or the colleges where we started our careers, we are involved. Here are the current charity events we're actively participating in:

Naples Winter Wine Festival January 25 - 27, 2008 www.napleswinefestival.com
A love of the finer things in life, coupled with a passion for helping children, has catapulted the annual Naples Winter Wine Festival into the stratospheric realm. Since a group of Naples families - who share a passion for fine wine, fabulous food and bettering their community - established The Naples Children and Education Foundation (NCEF) in 2000, the Naples Winter Wine Festival has raised nearly $40 million for children's charities. And a legendary international wine event was born.
Attendance at the festival is limited to approximately 500 individuals. Tickets have sold out each year well ahead of the event, attracting wine connoisseurs from around the globe, culinary enthusiasts and celebrities.

Over its 16 years, The MSU Auction has raised over $4 million for the School’s students and Alumni Association. This is the main fundraising event to benefit students and alumni of The School. The School’s Student Hospitality Association and Alumni Association split the net income of Auction. The Auction assists student clubs and student trips to places such as The National Restaurant Show in Chicago and The International Hotel/Motel Show in New York City. This year they are also donating to two local charities: the Junior League of Lansing and the Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities at MSU.
This annual event is held on the MSU Campus at the Kellogg Center’s Big Ten Rooms. This year, it is February 9, 2008 starting at 5:00 pm.

The Ovarian Cancer Alliance of Florida is dedicated to educating women throughout the state about ovarian cancer.
About 22,430 American women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2007, and about 15,280 will die from it. The state of Florida has the third highest incidence and mortality rate of the disease in the entire country. Therefore, OCAF has dedicated just under a decade to teaching women about the disease (it's symptoms and risks) in order to increase early detection to save women's lives.

The 1st Annual Knights of Columbus St. Agnes Golf Tournament was held on Saturday, November 10th at the Vanderbilt Country Club.

American Heart Association Heart Walk 2006 November 18, 2006 - 1 or 3 mile walk-a-thon
Change Tomorrow. Today! As the signature fund-raising event for the American Heart Association, the Heart Walk promotes physical activity and heart-healthy living in a fun family environment. It's a non-competitive walking event that's geared to companies. Participate by forming teams of employees, family members, friends and others. This year over 1,000,000 walkers will participate in more than 600 events across the country, raising funds to save lives from this country’s No. 1 and No. 3 killers, heart disease and stroke.
Funds raised from the Heart Walk will support heart and stroke research and education programs. Research funded by the American Heart Association has yielded important discoveries such as CPR, life-extending drugs, pacemakers, bypass surgery and surgical techniques to repair heart defects. These and other advances are making it possible for many to call themselves "survivors."
Betty Maclean Travel, Inc. had a great team, together we raised over $7,000! Below is a picture of our President Mary Ann Ramsey and the official Betty Maclean Travel, Inc. mascot, Mara!

MSU Swing! Auction February 10, 2007
In its 15 years in existence, the annual Hospitality Association/Alumni Association Auction has raised over $4 million for the School's students and Alumni Association, as well as for local charities. Held every February, this event coordinates the efforts of hospitality business students, alumni, faculty, and staff, and industry leaders. Themes have varied from Hoedown to Motown, Mardi Gras to Disco. This year, The School's students will be jitterbugging, swinging, and doing the lindy hop at Swing Auction 2007. The School's Hospitality Association and Alumni Association will share a portion of the net income of the Auction with the Junior League of Lansing and the MSU Student Food Bank.
Our President Mary Ann Ramsey is an alumnus of The School of Hospitality Business at Michigan State University. She attributes her professional success to the education and support she received at The School of Hospitality Business, and as an elected member of the Executive Board of the Alumni Association, she believes in supporting the future members of the travel industry community.
