MARY ANN RAMSEY HONORED AS BEST IN THE BUSINESS
NAPLES, Fla. (Jan. 16, 2004) – Mary Ann Ramsey, CTC, DS, the Owner and President of Naples-based Betty Maclean Travel Inc., has earned international recognition in being heralded as the 2003 Travel Agent of the Year following October ceremonies conducted by the American Society of Travel Agents during the 73rd World Travel Congress in Miami. Ramsey was distinguished above and beyond the more than 20,000 contenders in 140 countries that comprise ASTA, reportedly the world’s largest and most influential travel trade association.

The award inspired by Joseph W. Rosenbluth, recognizes an active travel agent member who has made a great contribution to the travel industry and whose outstanding influence and professional activity have advanced the status of travel agents.
A graduate and distinguished alumnist of Michigan State University’s School of Hospitality Business, Ramsey traveled to Naples in 1978 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. By 1986, she took over ownership of Betty Maclean Travel and in 1999 Ramsey expanded company services to include an “Adventure Travel” division.
In recent years, she has twice been elected as a Trustee for The Travel Institute (formerly ICTA) and frequently volunteered her insight and expertise as an advisor to a variety of boards, which include Seabourn Cruise Lines, Abercrombie & Kent, Virtuoso and Travel + Leisure. Ramsey has not only consistently ranked among Conde Nast Traveler’s list of “World’s Top Travel Related Specialists” (four years running), but she also figures in Travel + Leisure magazine’s “A-List of Super Agents."
Betty Maclean Travel is Southwest Florida’s leader in luxury and adventure travel. With an average of 20 years experience, nearly 100 percent of the staff of 23 travel consultants have earned the CTA (Certified Travel Associate) designation or CTC (Certified Travel Consultant) and DS (Destination Specialist) title.
